What are the provinces in Indonesia?


Province is a territorial unit which is used as the name of an administrative area that is under the territory of a state or state. In terms of administrative division, Indonesia consists of provinces, which are headed by a governor. Each province consists of several districts and or cities. Currently, Indonesia is divided into 34 provinces. The following are the names of the provinces in Indonesia and their capitals, which are grouped based on the location of the largest island. We start from the island of Sumatra:

A. Sumatera Island

1. Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam: Banda Aceh

2. North Sumatra: Medan

3. West Sumatra: Padang

4. Riau: Pekanbaru

5. Riau Archipelago: Tanjung Pinang

6. Jambi: Jambi

7. South Sumatra: Palembang

8. Bangka Belitung: Pangkal Pinang

9. Bengkulu: Bengkulu

10. Lampung: Bandar Lampung


B. Java Island

11. Banten: Serang

12. DKI Jakarta: Jakarta

13. West Java: Bandung

14. Central Java: Semarang

15. D.I. Yogyakarta: Yogyakarta

16. East Java: Surabaya


C. Bali Island and Nusa Tenggara

17. Bali: Denpasar

18. West Nusa Tenggara: Mataram

19. East Nusa Tenggara: Kupang


D. Kalimantan Island

20. West Kalimantan: Pontianak

21. Central Kalimantan: Palangkaraya

22. South Kalimantan: Banjarmasin

23. East Kalimantan: Samarinda

24. North Kalimantan: Tanjung Selor
